Vézelay is a small, charming town in Burgundy, known for its impressive Gothic cathedral, considered by some to be the greatest in the Burgundy region. More information is available from the Office de Tourisme, rue St-Etienne (www.vezelaytourisme.com).
Getting to Vézelay:
- Train: From Paris Gare de Lyon: Take the train to Sermizelles via Auxerre. Travel time is 2 1/2 hours and costs about 15€ each way. From Sermizelles, you'll probably want to take a taxi to Vézelay, (15 minutes away). The bus from Sermizelles runs to Vézelay only once per week, on Saturdays at noon.
- Car: From Paris, take the A6 autoroute south to Auxerre, then continue south along the N151 to Clamecy, then turn east on D951 to Vézelay.
